Welcome to the Walpole Arms

Welcome to The Walpole Arms, a traditional country pub serving modern British Cuisine.

The Walpole Arms dating back to the 18th century sits within the heart of north Norfolk’s picturesque countryside in the village of Itteringham. Itteringham stands on the River Bure, four miles north west from the market town of Aylsham and just two miles from the National Trust’s magnificent Blickling Hall.

Having recently been bought by a local farming family, the “Harrolds”, who have been farming in nearby Oulton since the 1930s, the pub has been sympathetically renovated, maintaining its charm of a country pub delivering a relaxed atmosphere.

Our chefs offer an innovative and exciting menu, preparing dishes using the highest quality locally produced seasonal ingredients, supplied from the Harrolds’ own farm and other local high quality producers.

Our traditional bar area with Norfolk red brick, oak beams and wood burner to keep you warm in those cold winter months, offers both diners and drinkers a charming experience in which to relax, whether it is for a romantic meal for two, a special occasion or just a pint of one of our local real ales.

The impressive Garden Room with oak beams and cosy seating area opens out onto our vine covered terrace, creating the perfect setting for some al fresco dining, whether be it a romantic meal for two, a larger group or a celebration.

The Walpole Arms features in the Good Food Guide and is the only pub in Norfolk to have won the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand Prize ten years in a row. This prestigious award is held by only a small and select number of pubs in the UK and demonstrates both the highest quality of product and value for money – a three course meal can be obtained for under £28.
